Hello everyone, James J. Yasso here, the Highway Scribe.
Today, we drive into Chapter 4, the crossing, not just across an ocean, but across worlds. When the Christian Chaldeans left their villages in Iraq, where the church bells, the language, the neighbors, and the honor were all one, they didn’t only leave a place. They left a way of life.Back home, faith was the shape of the day. Everyone knew your grandfather’s name. The soil held your parents and their parents before them.
But then came Detroit.
Here, the pace was fast. The culture was loud, loose, and wide open. The sotening of faith, the freedom, the temptations, all new. Some Chaldeans would hold tight to the old way. Others would bend. And some would break.
